Mrs. Paul Goes to Washington

I know I'm not Joey Lawrence or even Nell Carter, but would someone please gimme a break?! First thing I read online yesterday is how "indignant" Dick Cheney's wife, Lynne (tell me she's not the spitting image of Anne Haney, who played Mrs. Sellner the social worker in Mrs. Doubtfire), is about John Kerry mentioning that their daughter is a lesbian during last week's final debate between himself and George Dubya: "We're all God's children, Bob, and I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was. She's being who she was born as. I think if you talk to anybody, it's not a choice." No one seemed to have a problem with it when John Edwards mentioned it during his debate with Cheney. In fact, Cheney even thanked him for his kind words. Now, all of a sudden when Kerry mentions it while answering a question about gay marriage and he's the bad guy? As Willona Woods would say, 'Nigga please!' It'd be different if he just made it up, but it's the truth, so what's the big deal? If you ask me, I think it's a topic that they (the Republican party) would just like to sweep under the rug and forget about.

So, now their latest distraction from the real issues is that Kerry is playing "dirty" (Pot, have you met Kettle?) by mentioning it. Um, I recall Cheney's daughter being mysteriously absent from the White House up until it came time to start campaigning again and then magically she was paparazzi accessible. Gee, how convenient. Not unlike Bush's nephew, George P. Bush, who just happened to be Hispanic AND turned up to speak at the Republican National Convention, in not one but TWO languages, natch. I haven't seen so many tokens since the last time I went to Chuck E. Cheese.

My only thought about this is that I think you are being a little to strong on the token remark. George P Bush probally hung out at the white house but he was also busy getting a law degree and apparently falling in love with a girl he married a few months ago. As To Cheney's daughter she was probally busy with her own private life and work. Also the press is generally not doting over vice-president's children especially when they are grown.
