Intermission

I have jury duty today and I didn't finish writing my review for Brokeback Mountain in time to post it, so instead I'm giving you this video to watch until I get back. It's by Duran Duran and I still contend that it has one of the best beginnings ever. God, Roger Taylor (the drummer) looks so classic and ethereal as he reclines back in those swirling clouds. *dreamy* Enjoy!

*squee!* DD! That made my morning, thank you!

Remember when bands would make an effort to dress cool in their videos, instead of wearing hoodies and hockey jerseys? Damn, I miss the 80's. :(

My favorite Duran is John Taylor. OMG, so fine, I wonder if he's even human.

Cheryl-
I'm so glad you know who they are. I swear, at the rate Gen Y & Z are going, I half expected to hear their anthem "Who's that?" Then their infamous defense "I wasn't born until 1990." I love that story. Does it come in paperback? Morons.

Yes! I do remember when bands actually made an effort. I was just discussing that very thing with a friend a few weeks ago as we watched some 80's music videos. We marveled at the cool concepts, the clothes, etc. Back when videos didn't have to mean anything or have a "message." They were just what they were: colorful, fun and imaginative.

Then we talked about how all the videos today feel they all have to squeeze in some kind of "story" or commentary into their videos now, not to mention the unimaginative clothing, hair, etc. It's all so safe. So afraid to be original and not come off looking "cool." That's not to say there aren't some cool videos out there, but a lot of them tend to run together into one big mess I label "clones."

Thanks for commenting! :)

Clublint-
Ah, another Roger fan. He was just so beautiful. I never understood why everyone else was dating the supermodels and he was sitting in the bleachers. I longed to console him...ahem...anyway

I understand what you mean about the connection. I have DSL and some of the online videos still either don't sync up or something weird. I think it's just the nature of the medium. That's why, though tempting, I'm making a conscious effort not to get too video-posting-crazy.

Thanks for taking the time to comment! :)
